Bella Thorne was never a Disney fixture in my family home while growing up, and it wasn’t until her name became attached to Dimension Films’ Amityville: The Awakening that the artist came onto my radar. I’d later witness her acting range in the rancorous sequel and also in You Get Me and The Babysitter, where she proved herself to be a competent entertainer.

Besides acting and the obligatory musical career, like so many other Disney ex-act rebels that grew up in the limelight Thorne made the same conscious decision to change lanes in order to broaden her appeal. She shook her booty, forgot to wear a bra and presented herself in disarray during several guest appearances on Tana Mongeau’s YouTube channel and displayed other strings to her fiddle as a Logan Paul video girl, painter and fashionista.

More recently Thorne has turned her focus on music, contributing five songs to the soundtrack of Midnight Sun, including the lead single Burn So Bright, a saturnine tune that’s sickly sweet with little to no infectious vibe whatsoever. Soundtrack fillers aside, the grounded rebel additionally dropped several rap anthems. I use the term anthem loosely, as over the last few months and Friday just gone Thorne released her most unmelodious effort yet – Pussy Mine, an absorbed paradox produced by the 20-year-old entertainer’s boyfriend Mod Sun.

Unlike her first two singles Bitch I’m Bella Thorne and G.O.A.T., which dropped back in May, Pussy Mine is a game changer and possibly Thorne’s most edgy material yet! The actress turned rapper’s previous attempts at hip hop consisted of falling foul of being a guilty pleasure, but this time around she spits bars like her life depends on it, and surprisingly it pays off.
