Deep Blue Sea 2 is no instant cult classic but the film’s theme song fares much better!
Deep Blue Sea 2’s opening track is a haunting rendition written and performed by Sean Murray called Into The Blue. Murray, whose work includes Call of Duty, brings back 80s nostalgia with this gloriously camp and insincere ballad, which is a testament to Murray’s production skills more than anything else.
His vocals are husky and broad but blend well into the theme, offering a lot more than the movie ever delivered. Lyrically the track is nothing special (which is to be expected) and repeats variations on its theme “trading
dreams for nightmares” and “in the blue” as often as the 2 minute and 28 seconds running time allows.
All in all, for a feature film, the theme song Into The Blue does its job and was certainly a pleasant surprise, with lashings of 80s nostalgia fitting for generation 2018.
Deep Blue Sea 2 is available on Blu-ray / DVD 23 July.

Demi is back but with a change of pace. Sober cuts the pretty ribbons of her previous sunny offerings to give a more honest look inside the windows of the artist’s tortured soul.
Drake is back, but did he ever truly go away? Scorpion, his fifth studio album, is a monster, but was it really worth the studio time?
