Tyga isn’t really known for his lyrical wisdom, and since dating Kylie Jenner his street-cred also found itself slumping to an all-time low, even more so when he unleashed the cringe-inducing video for Dope’d Up on October 30, 2015, which saw the talentless Kylie turn her hand to acting. Stick to applying your globulating lip gloss for the Instagram masses!
Playboy ft. Vince Staples, which dropped back in June 2017, is one hell of a kiss-off, which seems to be all the rage in recent months. Tyga rhymes, “a superstar, got it bad for me / If I hang up, she call right back to me / You cut her legs off, she crawl right back to me.” Considering Jenner and the Mac & Devin Go to High School star dated on and off for years, and this was his most high-profile relationship to date, all the signposts seem to be pointing to Jenner as the superstar he’s referring to.
Playboy, released on June 3, is about a playboy, as the title suggests, who continues to enjoy attention from the same woman, despite various breakups and make-ups. As Us Weekly points out, the song is probably about Kylie Jenner.

Overall the diss track isn’t too bad and it is suitably refreshing to hear a kiss-off from another camp other than the Kardashians, who monopolize the worldwide media with their enhanced behinds. The song’s beat is slick and Tyga lets everything hang out in the lyrical sense: “Lift my balls and lick the whole sack for me, Playboy tenacity, umbrellas in my Daiquiri, If I ain't poppin’, why the paparazzi flashin’ me? Can you answer me?”
Tyga wasn’t really an artist high on my list to review but all that has changed since listening to Playboy. It’s defiantly a must-hear track and currently I have it on repeat. There is obviously a lot more to the hip-hop artist than his good looks and bling.
Playboy is available to download from iTunes now.
Drake is back, but did he ever truly go away? Scorpion, his fifth studio album, is a monster, but was it really worth the studio time?
